Walking into this east-side Bella Vista home proves that building a house with plenty of character can be achieved without having to take on the federal deficit.

Designed and built with a contemporary interior, stunning indirect blue lighting accents the kitchen, living room and theater. The indirect ceiling lighting in the kitchen and theater provides a cool, refreshing glow with the hint of a future era. In the living room, the soft lighting radiates from behind a bold ceramic tile wall that tastefully frames the entertainment center.

The stovetop burners and sink in the kitchen were placed on an L-shaped island that also serves as a breakfast bar. A brightly-lit countertop fills the space between the ovens and refrigerator and an adjacent sidewall houses stacked microwave, coffemaker and dishwasher units.

The Jacuzzi tub and sink areas of the master bath feature thick bands of one-inch tilework complementing ultramodern sinks, fixtures and mirrors. Bold 12 and 24-inch ceramic tile cover the bathroom walls.

Split-level seating adds to the plush comfort level of the theater room and a well-equipped fitness space helps offset the urge to remain in the theater as a permanent fixture. The dark wood-plank floors in the master bedroom are complimented by throw rugs with a subtle, but modern appeal.

The front exterior arches and partial clay tile roof provide a Mediterranean appearance. Cultured stone columns and tiered walls, along with stamped concrete drive and walkways, add an element of distinction to the entry.

A covered patio area with an open multi-arched wall faces the outdoor Jacuzzi and custom-designed pool area. In the Southwest, this is the place to simply relax and chat with guests.

The character of this particular home may not match your own, but it certainly proves that Bella Vista can create a space that does. ///
