More than 300 people attended the sold-out Take Flight for a Memorable Night Gala fundraiser that benefitted the Community Foundation of Southern New Mexico.

The evening started with a Blue Enchantment, a complimentary cocktail created especially for the event, followed by a dinner of salad with mixed greens, mango, grapefruit and avocado and a mango citrus dressing; a plated dish of chicken with champagne sauce and steak with chimchurri sauce on top of green chile mashed potatoes crisscrossed with fresh green beans and a orchid garnish and assorted desserts. Diners listened to the soothing sounds of the Ron Thielman Orchestra and watched dancing by NMSU DanceSport members. A live auction brought hands up in the air for a variety of items including art, wine and even cemetery plots. The Liars took the stage at the end of the evening for a little bit of rocking and dancing – all in the name of philanthropy.

The Community Foundation of Southern New Mexico is dedicated to helping the Southern New Mexico community now, and in the future. Founded in 2000, the Community Foundation offers opportunities for local people who want to give backlocally. Through the establishment of permanent funds, donors can sustain local charitable organizations, provide scholarships to area students and fulfill wishes that are close to the heart. Through planned giving programs, donors can honor loved ones or leave a legacy that benefits the people of Southern New Mexico for generations to come. The Community Foundation of Southern New Mexico can advise on how best to maximize contributions, no matter what size. ///
