Bold, bright colors have dominated the 2011 fashion scene. The fall color surge is no less bold, but focuses more on richer colors such as deep burgundy, marigold yellow, and emerald green. For a very current look, try finding a pair of pants in one of these rich hues.

There's never a better time to update your wardrobe than as the seasons change. Nan Napier, owner of the upscale boutique, Tres Mariposas in El Paso, talked to us about the hottest fall trends.

Retro inspired fashions have also been making a comeback this year. The 70's were big this spring and the pants can make a nice transition to the fall. Marketing Assistant Katherine Vandertulip said Tres Mariposas has had to reorder the 7 For All Mankind Ginger jeans, which feature a higher waist and bell-bottom leg, several times. Another retro look for the fall is color-blocking. Nan says, "Bold shapes of solid color are juxtaposed for a modern look with a nod to the sixties. This trend is a great way to bring color and geometric interest to an outfit."
Fashion designers have been very inspired this year by the Southwest and this is a great look to transition to the fall. The cozy, comfy, flaw-hiding poncho is back! Nan notes, "Wide angles are the shape of the moment." She recommends looking for knit, silk-woven, or even cashmere pieces. The desert inspired accessories are still great choices as well. "A stone here, fur trim or a feather there…It's all in good fun and can change a whole outfit," says Nan.

2.)   Lisa is stunning in an empire-waist, chiffon gown (Badgley Mischka) and a mink stole (Black Opal). She carries a mesh clutch (Whiting and Davis) and is draped in gorgeous diamond and white topaz jewels (Jude Frances).
3.)   This outfit is a fun and fashionable choice for the fall. Lisa is wearing a wool coat (Red Valentino) over a sleeveless turtleneck (A'nue) and cigarette pants (Mesmerize). She is also carrying a patent leather purse (Valentino).
4.)   Lisa is sporting bold red pants (Escada), a Navajo-inspired, knit pancho (Diane Von Furstenberg), a sleeveless turtleneck (Wolford), and a beautiful necklace made of cotton and wood (Josie Natori).
5.)   The sheer print top with feather and leather detailing (Elizabeth and James) dresses up a simple camisole (Only Hearts) and leggings (David Lerner). Sterling silver and black onyx jewelry (Ippolita) are perfect accessories.
6.)   Lisa is wearing a sheath dress and matching jacket in tweed with satin trim (Magaschoni). A sterling silver, Bastille necklace with a large sterling silver bangle (Ippolita) rounds out the look.

One final element you will want to incorporate into your wardrobe is what Nan calls "feminine polish." Look for fitted jackets, sheath dresses and skirts that accent your waist and pair with chic accessories such as a ladylike, top-handled bag. ///
