New Mexico Governor Susana Martinez was the keynote speaker at the 19th Annual Hispano Chamber of Commerce de Las Cruces Banquet held on May 6, 2011 at the Las Cruces Convention Center. The event began with a “networking” pre-party that featured a live Mariachi band and a martini and cigar bar on the patio. After an elegant meal, Governor Martinez spoke and presented awards for Business of the Year, Non-Profit of the Year, Citizen of the Year, Volunteer of the Year and Educator of the Year. Other notable speakers included Congressman Steve Pearce, Bishop Ricardo Ramirez of the Diocese of Las Cruces, and the evening’s emcee, local business consultant Steve Chavira. The after party got started around 9:00 pm with dancing to the live music of Sonny and The All Stars. ///
